MTB Bike Fit Service

Make Your Bike Fit You

I run mountain-bike-specific bike fit sessions. Together we sort reach, bar width, saddle height, cockpit and grips so you ride more comfortably, confidently and in control on the trails you actually ride.

A Bike That Fits Changes Everything

I see riders working harder than they need to because their bike does not quite suit them. A few millimetres in the wrong direction and you will fight the bike on every climb and descent.

In a bike fit session I listen to the niggles you have been putting up with, measure what matters, and adjust your bike properly to suit your body and the way you ride. There are no gimmicks and no expensive jigs. It is just a thorough, hands-on process built on years of coaching mountain bikers.
MTB Bike Fit - Cockpit Setup
Why MTB Specific

Almost Nobody Fits Mountain Bikes Properly

Walk into most bike fit studios and you will find a setup built around road bikes. Static jigs, a fixed saddle and a rider held in one position for hours. That approach simply does not translate to mountain biking, where you are constantly moving on the bike, weighting and unweighting the wheels and reacting to terrain that never sits still.

I know how frustrating that gap is because it has cost people close to me hundreds of pounds. A family member of mine paid around five hundred pounds for a fit at a well known studio, spent a full day there, and came away with a setup that did nothing for her mountain biking. The shop simply was not equipped to deal with a mountain bike. It is the reason I started offering proper MTB fits in the first place.

Everything I do is built around how you actually ride off road. Reach for the attack position, bar width and roll for control, lever position for one finger braking, dropper setup, grips, and suspension that is balanced for your weight and terrain. It is the bike fit I wish she had been given.
What We Cover

Every Touchpoint, Dialled In

I look at the five contact points your bike has with you. Those are two hands, two feet and a seat. Each one gets attention.

Saddle Height

It is dialled to your leg length and riding style. You get enough extension to pedal efficiently without rocking your hips or stressing your knees.

Saddle Fore / Aft & Tilt

I set your position over the cranks for a balanced pedal stroke and a level, supportive perch when seated.

Saddle Size & Type

Width is matched to your sit bones and shape is chosen for the riding you actually do, from climbs and descents to everything in between.

Reach & Stem

Cockpit length is checked against your torso and arm length so you can weight the front wheel without feeling stretched.

Brake Lever Position

Angle, reach and bite point are set up for one-finger braking in the attack position.

Grips & Hand Position

Diameter and style are chosen to suit your grip, reduce arm pump and keep hands relaxed on long descents.

Bar Width & Roll

Bars are trimmed and rotated for shoulder width, control and wrist comfort. Wider is not always better.

Dropper Post Setup

Travel, lever position and height are optimised so the dropper becomes an instinctive part of your riding.

Suspension Setup

I set sag, rebound and compression on your fork and shock to suit your weight, riding style and the terrain you ride. A proper bike fit and balanced suspension go hand in hand.

Body Position On The Bike

We finish with a ride so I can see how the setup actually feels, then fine tune it while you are moving.

How It Works

The Session

1

Conversation

I start by talking through your riding, your goals and any aches, pains or niggles you have been working around.
2

Measurements & Assessment

I take the key measurements off you and the bike, and check your current setup from front to back.
3

Adjustments

Saddle, reach, bar width, lever position, dropper and grips. Anything that needs to change gets changed.
4

Ride & Fine Tune

We head out for a ride so I can see how it feels on the move, then make the final tweaks to lock it in.
Client Story

I first booked a mountain bike coaching session with Luis because I wanted to feel more confident on my bike, and it was one of the best decisions I could have made.

The coaching session was relaxed, supportive, and completely pressure-free. Luis gave me practical, easy-to-understand advice that made an immediate difference to how I felt on the bike, and his detailed follow-up feedback gave me plenty of clear things to keep working on afterwards.

I then had a separate bike fit session with Luis, which has made a huge difference. He took the time to listen to the issues and niggles I was having, took measurements, and adjusted the bike properly to suit me. He changed the set-up so I had a shorter reach, more comfortable bars, better wrist support, the correct saddle position, and a dropper post that I can now use easily without having to fiddle around trying to find the right height.

After the initial set-up, we went for a ride so Luis could see how everything felt while I was actually on the bike and make final adjustments as needed. The whole process felt really thorough, practical, and tailored to me.

Whether you’re completely new to mountain biking or have years of experience, I’d highly recommend booking a session with Luis. My bike now fits me, rather than me trying to fit it, and I’m enjoying my riding so much more.

Highly recommended!
